So, I bought two extra drives in case one failed, and then another failed before I had a chance to order another backup. I've had the server configured as raid 5, but you can choose other raid configurations. I have been very happy with this server, which i've used on my home network of macs and PCs over ethernet. Turns out I was completely over prepared.

The server is designed for heavy use in a small business environment with multiple users. When I first got the server, I was concerned that the raid 5 configuration had a fault tolerance of only one drive, meaning if more than one of the four drives failed, I could lose data. I've used it relatively lightly in a home envoy.

The server has performed flawlessly and I still have the two brand-new backup drives at the ready.
